Walk
Schedule and Symbolic Model Boat Launch
The longer walk (roughly 11 miles)
will start from the Thames Barrier at 10 am.
We will meet outside the visitor
centre 9.30 am, where there are external toilets available.
We will reach the Cutty
Sark/foot tunnel entrance in Greenwich at around 12 noon, where we will take
part in the symbolic launch of model
boats and will be joined by those who prefer to do the shorter walk
(roughly 6 miles), heading off around 1.00 pm.
Meet Palestinian Tour Guides from the West Bank
We hope to be joined (during the
morning only) by Nidal and George from the Siraj Center in the West Bank. They will be able to talk
about life under occupation, Palestinian cultural heritage under threat and how
to take part in hikes and cycle rides in the West Bank.
The Cause and How to Fundraise
We will be fundraising for the Thousand Madleens
to Gaza flotilla.
Please share and contribute to our
local fundraiser. Because this is not a registered charity, we have to use crowdfunding. Share or contribute to our fundraiser.
Getting to the Start: Thames Barrier

These bus routes all run along the
road nearest to the Thames Barrier
161 North
Greenwich, Mottingham, Chislehurst
177 Peckham,
New Cross, Woolwich, Thamesmead
180 North
Greenwich, Woolwich, Abbey Wood, Belvedere
(380 from
Lewisham also goes fairly near)
Get off at Royal Greenwich Trust
School, and walk along the path to the left of the college entrance.

Go down the path to the left of the
school and follow it for about 400 m until you reach the ridge by the river.

Go up the steps on the ridge, and turn
right towards the The View information centre. There
are external toilets nearby that
will be open.
Getting to the Short Start: Greenwich
The model boat launch and short start
(joining the others as they stop for lunch at about 1200) is near the Cutty Sark in Greenwich.
There are many bus routes but Cutty Sark DLR
station is closed at the moment. Greenwich Station is still open.
Walk towards the foot tunnel entrance,
by the side of the Cutty Sark, where there are plenty
of places to sit.

As for footwear, the route is all flat
and on footpaths, so if you wear sensible shoes that you are used to, it is
very unlikely that you will get blisters.
A reminder to share and contribute to
the fundraiser.
